Major International knows
how to prepare food
fit for a king - a future
one anyway.
They supply the kitchens of Clifton
College and Eton, Prince William’s
former school.
Now the stock and sauce specialists
believe they can help you transform
your menu and encourage more
children to take up school meals.
Major’s main tips are:
- Keep up to date with latest trends
- Compete with the high street
- Keep changing the menu
At Eton, half of the houses eat breakfast,
lunch and supper in Bekynton, a large
central dining complex; the others have
their own chefs and their own house
dining rooms.
Ian Mort heads the 40-strong catering
team there.
He told Stir it up: “Our biggest challenge
is to feed 600 hungry boys in 20 minutes
in 65 locations around the campus.
“We have to keep abreast of latest
trends such as lighter bites and offer
new ideas for alternatives to t
he
traditional classics.
“In order to compete with the high
street, our menus reflect high street
trends and includes an oriental style
menu with a choice of Far Eastern
dishes, such as noodles with quick
- fried chicken and black bean sauce
or a selection of ingredients to Build
Your Own Burger.”
Ian adds: “It is really the award winning
chefs team headed by Michael
Godfrey who has been using Major
products for nine years, using the entire
product range to maintain consistency
and quality.
“Major products are so versatile
and contain no artificial additives,
preservatives or allergens, it’s easy
to incorporate them in dressings, wraps
or salads as well as main dishes such as
Traditional Moroccan Chicken and Nasi
Goreng, a Nepalese dish to create tasty
and ethnic flavours cost effectively.”
