Get into the spirit of Halloween by creating
some diabolical dishes to keep the little
monsters happy.
You only need basic ingredients
to put on a spectacularly spooky
spread for nursery or school lunches.
Here are some recipes we cooked up
in the Stir it up kitchen - why not try
them out for yourself?
Edible Eyeballs
Carrots
Cream cheese
Pitted black olives
Simply slice the carrots into one inch
thick chunks, top each with a blob of
cream cheese and one half of a pitted
black olive and serve.
Spooky Spiders
Small cheese crackers
Marmite twiglets
Raisins
Position four twiglets on each side of
the cracker to create your spider’s legs
and use a couple of raisins for the eyes.
Pumpkin Roll-ups
Cream cheese
Sun-dried tomato tortillas
Toothpicks
Parsley sprigs
Spread the cream cheese on the
sun-dried tomato tortillas. Roll them up
then cut into one inch sections. Secure
with a toothpick topped with parsley.
Roasted Ghosts
Sweet potatoes
Grated cheese
Black beans
Cook and mash your potatoes until
creamy and lump-free. Mix in your
cheese and place the mixture into a
piping bag without the decorator’s tip.
Squeeze the ghosts onto a lightly
buttered baking sheet so they stand
upright.
To create the ghastly eyes press two
even sized black beans into each
ghost’s head. Just before serving, warm
the ghosts in an oven preheated to
350°F for about five minutes. Serve
with baked beans. |
